Our craft table at the Winters Outdoor Quilt Festival

Andrea and I had a table at the Winters Outdoor Quilt Festival this past Saturday. It was fun, and I think our table was beautiful. The bad news is that we were 1 out of 1 vendors, and 1 out of 3 tables (the other 2 were charity raffles) and the style of our merchandise probably didn’t suit the clientele very well. The good news is that we had tons of fun, it was a beautiful day, we made enough sales to recoup our costs and make it worth our time, and since we donated 100% of our profits to Andrea’s 2Seeds Network fundraising project, we earned her $77. We do wish we’d sold more, since we just had a lot of inventory to begin with and now we still have a lot of inventory, so we’re offering to continue donating 100% of our profits to 2Seeds on any sales made between now and when Andrea leaves for Tanzania in August. Check out these pictures and let us know if you’re interested in purchasing anything you see here, or knowing more about what we have for sale.

Yarn Bombing in Winters

I don’t know whether to call it “Yarn Bombing” or “Guerrilla Crocheting” or what but I made one for Winters. I’ve been calling it “The Pole Cozy”, mostly. My goal was to have it done for the Winters Outdoor Quilt Festival, and I waited until a week before the event to start it, but I got it done. I haven’t seen it get much attention, but hopefully it will, and hopefully it will stay up for a long time!

No Tresspassing

I recently installed a rope swing (which I made myself from retired climbing rope, thank you very much) in a tree in the field where I take my dog to run. I was so proud of my swing. I even learned fancy knots for tying it safely to the tree. I enjoyed using it and so did other folks. For about two weeks, that is, until I went there one day and found my rope swing to be disappeared and several of these stupid signs in its place. I know its private property and all, but I’m still pissed.

Homemade Bread and Cheese Display

Well, the cheese isn’t homemade, but the bread is, and I think I made pretty cute signs to tell people what each thing was. It was for a potluck wedding we went to earlier this year. And we’ve heard that the bread was very popular among the French guests, who promptly went back to France and bragged to their relatives that there are artisan breadmakers in the U.S.!

Cool Homemade Sign for the Winters Pool

The Winters pool made a cool sign to try to attract more people to the public pool. So I had to stop to take a picture of it.

Tree Planters I Like

The Hyatt in Monterey has these awesome planters. Just as soon as I figure out how one would drill out a hollow spot in a stump I plan to make one or two of my own.

Winters Outdoor Quilt Show

In June, our little cowpoke town had an outdoor quilt show, and it was apparently rather successful because there will a zillion quilts. I didn’t even see them all, regretfully. But I made a point of seeing the Gee’s Bend ones they brought in, and the “antique” ones they had in the firehouse. They had to move the firetrucks out to make room for them all. For even more photos, check out the show’s website.

Oh my.

Its been well over a year since I’ve blogged. How can I possibly expect to have any readers if I go so long without new posts?! I guess I’ve had some good excuses, but not anymore! And I do have some interesting pictures to post so I’m going to start doing that now, even if the pictures are not of the quality I’d like (stupid Nikon camera). So, if anyone in the world is actually reading this, thank you. To express my thanks, I’ll send you something cool in the mail if you leave me your address in the comments. Please, please, someone comment!
