We used to take our dog Buckley to the playground of the elementary
school next door to our house, until it closed all its gates to the
public. Then we took him to the little league field 2 blocks down, along
with a lot of other dog owners and it became the unofficial dog
park of Winters. Then they remodeled the dog park and now it has
a new sign:

I guess I shouldn’t complain because within a 10 minute walk from our
house is this:

But I know that someday this field will be developed into more homes,
and right now all the dog owners like me are just trespassing on who
knows whose land, and it would be great if there was a legitimate
off-leash place for dogs to exercise in Winters. Ahem.

My co-worker Sherry and I stayed at the W in San Diego this week,
because they offer the state rate! Can you believe it?! The unfortunate
part is that we were so busy prepping for our field tour the next day
that we didn?t have a spare moment to enjoy the W’s amenities, including the “beach” (see pics below), the fancy bar(s), or even just relaxing in our own room, which was wonderful itself.

Anonymous Postcard accepted my submission and sent my postcard! This is really cheesy, and I shouldn’t be so excited but somehow I am. In the interest of keeping it totally anonymous, I probably shouldn’t be posting about it here, but I’m not telling you which one is mine. I meant to post about this a long time ago, when we made these spectacular halo halos. I have to admit, at first I thought halo halo was weird. I mean, beans in a dessert drink? Beans in any drink?! And potatoes! OMG. But its really good. Without the jackfruit of course. And with the ube ice cream of course. The ube ice cream is my favorite part. Yummy!

Recently Danny Volk, an employee from a fabulous store in Chicago called Elements found my journals in my Etsy shop, showed them to the store’s buyer, and they bought 24 of my journals! It was by far my largest sale so far. And I’m just really excited about having my journals for sale at this upscale store in Chicago. Then a colleague of Danny’s loved my journals so much that she placed a custom order. So I’m very grateful to Danny for setting this all up and I wish Chicago was closer so I could go to the store!
